History and
Location

Just steps from the center of Florence, amid red brick walls and floors still marked in places by old railway tracks, lies a venue where historical and contemporary beauty come together. Stazione Leopolda is a unique and evocative location that, from its beginnings as a railway station in the early 19th century, has evolved into a hub for creatives and anyone looking to make their events truly memorable.
Protected for its historical and artistic value, the former station covers approximately 6,000 square meters across two main areas: Stazione Leopolda, a single space under a metal-structured roof divided into two wide naves, and Alcatraz, a two-story space adjoining the station that was originally used as a warehouse for railway spare parts.

Stazione Leopolda was Florence’s first railway station. Completed in 1848 and named “Leopolda” in honor of the reigning Grand Duke, the station near Porta al Prato served as the terminus of the first public railway in Tuscany, built to connect Florence commercially with Livorno.
Shortly after the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861, all rail traffic was redirected to Santa Maria Novella station, and Stazione Leopolda ceased operations, never resuming its original role.

Its spacious layout and distinctive architecture, transformed over time, have made Stazione Leopolda a leading venue for cultural and creative events since the 1990s. It is the preferred choice of Italian and international companies, public and private organizations, cultural institutions, communication agencies, and public relations offices for a wide range of events, including cultural exhibitions, art and architecture showcases, fashion shows, concerts, theatrical performances, product and service presentations, food and wine tastings, television productions, conventions, corporate meetings, political gatherings, celebrations, and private parties.

The management of this space and its activities is overseen by Stazione Leopolda Srl, a company of Pitti Immagine, the Italian organization internationally recognized for promoting the fashion and design industries. In recent years, its scope has expanded to include food and wine, fragrances, books, technology, and dance. Drawing on this experience, Stazione Leopolda offers complete planning and management for every type of event, from concept to execution. Fully equipped with modern exhibition services, it can provide turnkey solutions or adapt to the specific needs of each client.
More than a venue, it is a former railway station transformed into a multifunctional space and a hub for the exchange and growth of creative ideas.
