BTO: this is how we can reword the acronym of this revolutionary event dedicated to the section showing the greatest growth in the tourist chain, capable right from its early stages of representing the latest most valid alternative to traditional fairs.
Buy Tourism Online is actually more than just a fair.
It’s a workshop, a convention, a training course, an information source, a debate and a commercial marketplace– the only one in Italy and Europe – for the demand and offer of online tourism.
In fact BTO intends:
- analysing the phenomenon of the sale and purchasing of tourist products and services online, on both a national and international basis
- investigating the prospects for operators and customers
- investigating the prospects for operators and customers
- facilitating the matching up top-of-the-range training events thanks to the presence of the best experts in this sector on an international level
BTO for you, a unique chance for your business
The commercial BTO event, with all its prefixed appointments, will be divided up as follows:
- Numerous tables of companies in the web sector and Tour Operators
- Four sessions of appointments, each lasting either an hour and a half or two hours, with either a coffee break or buffet lunch
- A quarter of an hour for each appointment
- The big-time players of online tourism will finally have the chance to offer their clients - both actual and potential - their own products at a truly specialised event.
Not only the portals, software agencies, online guides, and tour operators working online, but also the suppliers of services and know-how such as webmasters, revenue management companies, agencies specialised in multimedia advertising, tourist review sites, in other words, all the providers that are either directly or indirectly active on the web can take part with their own table at the first edition of BTO with the assurance of targeted, preselected and profitable meetings.
The buyers who visit the workshop will in fact consist of the crËme de la crËme of the most important big spenders of online booking of products and services, and include:
- owners, directors and managers of hotels and hotel chains
- owners and operators of bed & breakfasts throughout Italy
- managers of every other type of incoming structure (farm holidays, camping sites, holiday villages…)
The conventions
BTO exploits an original format alternative to that of the traditional tourism fairs, focusing primarily on training as outlined below:
Travel 2.0 & Technology Forum:
This forum, will open the event at 13.00 pm on Monday 17 November. The idea is to define the state of the art of electronic tourist distribution and map out the prospects for the immediate future.
Among the issues under discussion:
- the search for the best rate
- the options offered to operators by 2.0 technologies to “influence” customers’ choices
- prospects for intermediaries
- social networks
- the future of the GDS
“Online & Congress” Convention:
On the morning of the following day a convention will be held by some of the leading Italian experts in the sector, proposing the most profitable and synergetic online applications for the congress industry.
Among the issues under discussion, we would mention safeguarding the congress price, aimed at protecting the professional organisation from the continual fluctuations (even downwards) of the web tariffs.
The workshop
Travel 2.0 & Technology Workshop
The workshop itself, with its pre-fixed appointments, will be the core event of the second day of the BTO (Tuesday 18 November) and will be organised in collaboration with the ETOA (European Tour Operator Association), which will proceed to match demand and supply.
Scheduled activities comprise:
- Eighty tables of firms from the web sector and Tour Operators;
- Various convention operators, specifically selected and invited by Italia for Events (inter-regional promotion network for Italy as a site for events);
- Four sessions of appointments, lasting one and a half or two hours each, with intervals for coffee break or buffet lunch.
- Twenty minutes for each appointment.
